Over 1200 shows between them…

The two ‘men’ below…Bobby Jones (playing Abanazer) and Brian Devaney (playing Widow Twankey) are pictured facing off towards the climax of this year’s pantomime – Aladdin.

They are two stalwarts of the Coolera Panto, are part of a core group of actors who are at the heart and soul of the company, and this year are taking part in their 41st and 39th pantomimes respectively.

They are a huge part of the reason why the show has been so successful over the years and they share one key quality.

It’s the ability to react to the audience in real time and then improvise in a way that enhances the show.

There is always a certain amount of humour in the script but it’s the extra bits that often win over the audience and these men can provide those in spades.

It’s where the magic happens.

And it looks easy.

But they are soon to have completed 80 pantomime runs between them. That’s over 1200 shows.

A lot of practice. No wonder really.

I'm Kieran and I play piano. Actually I do a bit more than just playing - I teach others how to play, and I write music, arrange it and host/produce shows.
