Last of the series – it seems like many of you have enjoyed this particular series – it has been important for me to look back at previous shows in preparing for the next one – so thanks for reading.
Theme NIght #19 was a hugely important theme night, for reasons that go beyond music.
We tried something new for Theme Nights 16-18 – new venues (Stephen St. Car Park, Knocknarea Arena), new partners (Sligo GAA, Sligo SummerFest, Sligo Jazz), new musicians involved, even two shows in one night once.
And they were great nights, for different reasons, but there’s something about coming home.
And that’s how the Hawk’s Well feels to us. And for Theme Night #19, we went back home, back to basics and I believe the happy faces you see below (from after the show that night) and the overall feeling generated from that night has propelled us through to being ready to make the leap to go to Dublin this week.
My favourite story from the night – when a lady approached me afterwards and showed me a photo of her late husband singing in U.S. Army uniform beside none other than the subject of Theme Night #19 – Mr. Elvis Presley himself.
It’s important to try new things, but important to know where home is also.
