Unlikely partners

Peanut butter and jam.

Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness.

King Louis and Baloo the Bear.

Chicken wings and blue cheese dip.

Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Batman and Robin.

Sometimes when you put two completely different things or people together, it works. It’s usually hard to explain why, but it just does.


And so this picture caught my eye recently. A recording studio and a cafe are not two of the most likely bedfellows, but when you think about it, it just might work.

Next time you reach an impasse when you’re trying to create something, try thinking of someone or something that is very different to you, but the thought of which excites you. It’s worth a try.
